This week, from October 13 to 16, the .lumen team joined GITEX Global in Dubai, one of the world’s largest technology and startup exhibitions, to showcase our AI-powered glasses for the blind and connect with innovators & possible partners, from early-stage founders to global tech leaders, who are changing the world across the GCC and beyond through their work.
GITEX Global is one of the largest tech events worldwide, bringing together over 200,000 visitors and 6,000 exhibitors from 170+ countries. That's a lot!
This year’s edition emphasized human-centric innovation, AI for good, and breakthrough technologies shaping the next decade.
Visitors from across the globe had the chance to test the glasses blindfolded and experience what independence feels like when technology bridges the gap between humans and their environment.
On-site, our team, Cornel, Andrei, Daniel, and Andreea, offered live demos and shared the story behind .lumen: how Romanian engineering, empathy, and AI came together to create a life-changing assistive device.
We won the 2025 GITEX Global competition
Romania just made history: for the first time ever, we’ve won GITEX Global competition.
.lumen won the 2025 Supernova Challenge, Digi Health Award, taking home a prize of $10,000.
More important than the award itself was the recognition of what we stand for: building technology that gives freedom to those who need it most.
“Tried the dotLumen glasses at GITEX GLOBAL, the world’s largest tech and startup show, and honestly, what a powerful cause. The demo Cornel Amariei showed was incredible; seeing how this can transform lives is just mind-blowing. Wishing you all the best on this amazing journey!” - Megha Chawla, GITEX Global attendee
Our participation at GITEX Global 2025 was made possible in partnership with ARIES-TM, a non-governmental organisation that helps Romanian tech companies gain international visibility and build global partnerships. We’re grateful for their support in taking Romanian innovation to some of the world’s most important technology stages. Our glasses were also featured at the European Innovation Council Pavilion with EIC.
A day of double celebration
While part of the team was showcasing .lumen’s work on the global stage, Bianca Iulia Simion, our CMO, was in Bucharest at the Romanian Parliament, receiving an award at the “There's nothing you can't do” Gala, organized by the Cherish Life Foundation.
Technology, when guided by empathy, can change the world.
