They say you should never do a live demo. Too many things can go wrong—especially when showcasing cutting-edge technology in front of hundreds of people, under bright stage lights, and on live television. But at IMS Luxembourg, .lumen took that risk. And it paid off spectacularly.
On a dark stage, in front of an audience of 400, Cornel Amariei, CEO and Founder of .lumen, took the microphone during his keynote and asked a simple question:
“Who wants to try our glasses?”
Hands shot up across the room, as curiosity and excitement filled the air. Cornel scanned the audience and randomly selected a volunteer. Little did anyone know, this person had just entered the room, had not listened to a single word of the keynote, and had no idea what he had signed up for.
The Ultimate Test: A Blindfolded Walk on Stage
With no prior preparation, the volunteer was given just three minutes of training. Then, the moment of truth arrived—he put on the .lumen glasses, was blindfolded for the first time in his life, and was asked to navigate the stage. The tension in the room was palpable. Would it work?
Step by step, he moved forward. And then, something incredible happened—he did not stumble, hesitate, or lose his way. The glasses did exactly what they were designed to do: guide visually impaired users safely through their surroundings. The room erupted in applause.
Realizing the Impact—Days Later
What made this moment even more extraordinary was that the volunteer did not fully grasp what had happened until days later. After finding Cornel’s post on social media, he realized that he had experienced first-hand the power of over 300,000 hours of research and development in action. His comment on the post said it all:

This was more than just a demo—it was a testament to the potential of deep tech to change lives.
A Defining Moment for .lumen and Assistive Tech
Live demos are unpredictable, but this one proved exactly why .lumen’s technology is so groundbreaking. It reinforced our belief in our mission—to bring mobility and independence to millions of visually impaired people worldwide.
IMS Luxembourg provided the perfect stage to showcase what we’ve been building, and we couldn’t have asked for a more powerful moment to demonstrate its impact.
