.lumen, the Romanian start-up that creates empowering glasses for the blind, has been chosen as a finalist for the prestigious New European Bauhaus Prize 2023, out of a pool of over 1,450 applications!
The New European Bauhaus is an interdisciplinary initiative that connects the European Green Deal with living spaces and experiences. The Prizes aim to recognize initiatives that exemplify the values of sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusiveness, and will award up to EUR 30,000 to the winners.
What does this mean for .lumen?
.lumen has been selected as a finalist in the Strand B: "New European Bauhaus Rising Stars," dedicated to concepts submitted by young talents aged 30 or younger. This achievement brings a new level of recognition and validation to .lumen, showcasing that their glasses are a sustainable solution promoted by the European Green Deal, combining inclusivity and beauty to enhance people's everyday lives. .lumen was awarded in the thematic category of Prioritising the places and people that need it the most.
A total of 15 prizes will be awarded. The jury will select 12 winners (one winner for each category in each strand), and three winners will be chosen through open public voting (one winner per strand). All winners will receive a monetary prize. As finalists, .lumen will be invited to Brussels to participate in the award ceremony and will also receive a communication package from the Commission to support the promotion of their project.
